Abstract

Background: Birth Planning and Prevention of Complications (P4K) in the context of accelerating the reduction of MMR and Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) through activities to improve access and quality of services, which are activities to build community potential, especially for preparation and action to save mothers and newborns. The role of cadres in implementing P4K activities is very important. However, currently there are still many Public Health Center that have not fully implemented P4K activities. One of the contributing factors is the lack of knowledge of cadres in the implementation of Birth Planning and Prevention of Complications.                 Method: This research uses analytic research with cross sectional study design. The aim is to identify the relationship between cadres knowledge about P4K and cadres' behavior in dealing with complications in the Pasirkaliki Public Health Center work area, Bandung.                 Results: The results of statistical tests using the chi square test at a 95% confidence level showed that there was a statistically significant relationship between cadres knowledge about P4K and cadre preparedness behavior in dealing with complications in the Pasirkaliki Public Health Center work area, Bandung with p value = 0.013 (p≤0.05).                 Conclusion: With good knowledge of cadres about P4K, it will improve cadre preparedness behavior towards emergencies in mothers and infants in the region.
